Implementation of National Quality Assurance Frameworks for Asia and the Pacific: Experiences and Challenges

Abstract:
The paper presents the results of the country assessments using the generic template for National Quality Assurance Framework presented during the Training on "Statistical Quality Management and Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics: Towards Implementation of National Quality Assurance Frameworks", held on 30 September to 4 October 2013. The training was designed to increase the knowledge and requisite skills of the participants on statistical quality management and fundamental principles of official statistics, particularly towards the implementation of national quality assurance frameworks, which is of utmost importance for statistical capacity development in Asia and the Pacific. Participants also presented their current practices on quality assessments and how these have led to continuous quality improvements. Towards the end of the training, the participants presented their action plans towards a Country-specific National Quality Assurance Framework and a discussion on the capacity building needs for institutionalization and technical requirements for implementation was done.
