Livestock & Poultry Information and Early Warning System 2015-2017
The major outputs of the Livestock and Poultry Information and Early Warning System (LPI-EWS) are considered as tools for sound policy decision conducive for a globally competitive agribusiness and market development planning for livestock and poultry sectors. For the enhancement of the livestock and poultry system, improvement of data collection methods, data generation, maintenance and enhancement of databases, conduct of statistical capacity building programs, and dissemination of its statistical outputs were made. Sub-activities were conducted to reach the goal of the latest project, LPI-EWS 2015, which is to enhance forecast methodology, update L&P databases and conduct reorientation activities by revisiting the implementation of LPI-EWS activities in the regions for a more responsive early warning system. These sub-activities, which are discussed further in the paper, are as follows: (1) Improvement of PSA L&P Data Systems; (2) Statistical Model Enhancements; (3) Preparation and Publication of Reports; (4) Technical Assistance to Regions; and (5) Capacity Building Activities.
