Abstract:
Through the years, the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) has been doing its mandate to investigate study and report the condition of the domestic animals in the Philippines as well as recommend to the Department of Agriculture (DA) specific policies and procedures governing the flow of livestock products through the various stages of marketing. Currently, beef cattle are identified as priority commodity due to its potential market, local and abroad. The Philippines has comparative advantage over other ASEAN countries because of its Foot and Mouth Disease-free and Avian Influenza-disease free status. Moreover, there is also an increasing demand for Halal-certified meat in the international markets. The Development of a Supply and Value Chain Simulation Model for Cattle will help in the improvement of the cattle industry through facilitation in the flow of livestock product through the various stages of marketing – production, post-production and retail marketing. Through this project, the factors involved in the distribution and sale of cattle/beef and allied industry were tracked, reviewed and analyzed.
