Abstract:
Access to clean and affordable energy emerges as a critical area in the pursuit of sustainable development. Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) sets the target of ensuring universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy by 2030. The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) acknowledges the importance of achieving this goal especially for the Philippines. Hence, this scoping study has the objective to explore and compile relevant literatures and data on SDG 7 to assess their feasibility to be localized in the country. The team conceptualized, delved into the relevant literature and methodologies available for the indicators, and coordinated with stakeholders for the SDG indicators 7.a.1, which promotes investing in clean energy, and 7.b.1, which measures renewable energy consumption. This study shed light on the current status of the indicators here in the Philippines and its data gaps. The results of this study deemed SDG Indicator 7.a.1 as the indicator with a higher priority for further research.
