Abstract:
Established in 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represent the global roadmap to a better and more sustainable future for all through eradicating poverty, ensuring peace, and protecting the planet. At its core, the SDGs aim to ensure the preservation of the environment and the long-term viability of its resources. It is an imperative to protect the global resources since its deterioration has a detrimental influence not just on the environment but also on economic growth and human health. This issue is addressed by SDG 12 as it seeks to "ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns". To illustrate the present progress made toward reaching SDG 12 in the Philippines and contribute to the existing knowledge on sustainable consumption and production, this scoping study focuses on gathering information on selected Tier III indicators under SDG 12. Through a comprehensive review of related literature and collaborative discussions with identified stakeholders for SDG 12, this scoping study examines the country’s available data sources and methodologies, while exploring any potential data gaps on indicator computation. Ultimately, this study recommends priority indicators that are feasible for more extensive methodological research.
