Abstract:
The Philippines was one of the United Nations (UN) member states who committed to the Agenda for Sustainable Development to Transform Our World by 2030. One of the SDGs is Indicator 3.c.1 – Health Worker Density and Distribution. Classified as Tier I globally, this indicator is yet to be included in the Philippines’ SDG Watch. This study aimed to gather information to address data gaps in the computation of SDG Indicator 3.c.1, and ultimately, to generate density and distribution data for the Philippines. Different data sources, including databases and surveys managed by the DOH, were examined. Alternatively, the researchers also looked into the possibility of using survey data collected from the Labor Force Survey (LFS) for health worker density and distribution. The findings obtained from this paper may be used to further study health worker distribution data in the Philippines. For one, the possibility of obtaining more granular estimates for health worker data may be further explored.
